Well my journey with learning catia has ended .... with a new beginning a new start as i m going to work for the biggest automotive company in the world in couple of weeks .... Yes ! u guessed it rite ! I have secured myself a wonderful position as a Design Engineer .... so thanks for all your support n help ... will continue to support people who r looking for a break or interested in learning catia

I have been waiting waiting and waiting for this DAY .... 2 come ! coz just a couple of hours ago DASSAULT SYSTEMES has certified me as a part design specialist whoa!! unbelievable n u wouldn't believe it when i say that I finished this in a matter of 60 Days approx .... where someone is required to have a minimum of 6-8 Months of real work .....
So the next question is obvious ... how did I manage to get here ?
Ingredients:
4-6hrs of sleep
12-14 Hrs of CATIA (in a variety of combination i.e. - books, manuals, ofcourse the usuals)
200% of dedication ...
all this multiplied by a factor of 7 every week will most likely give u = CAT-PDM-V5R16 Certification.

For all of u fellas ! i started studying CATIA V5 Mechanical Design Module it roughly takes about a month n half to finish up Sketcher, Part Design and bit of Generative Shape Design and Interactive Drafting. I spent around 30hrs each week so u could imagine the amount of effort needed ..... and a tip for visitors from NETHERLANDS B.V ..... Fokker Services is on the look out for people in CATIA V5 !!!!! and the goodnews is CADES from Bangalore has signed up MoU (u know that bit) to supply people to Europe for CATIA V5 ....... last week heaps (arnd 40-50 visitors came to my blog... so a bit of help)

If you have some spare time do check this product from Dassault Systemes. It's taking 3D PLM applications to a new level mates ! anybody could see anything as long as they have the program running and connectivity .... it can collaborate with CATIA V5, ENOVIA, DELMIA, SMARTEAM and what not ! so any body from a purchasing to marketing can be involved in a truly incredible design not only design kings !! heeheh!! so its a its a table turning magic (u ll understand only if u try the interactive program at 3ds.com)

The most basic work bench you will work on is PART DESIGN - allows you to create simple parts which can be assembled into an assembly at a later stage.
Now when you hit part design icon you will see you are provided with a 1.DEFAULT PLANE SYSTEM, XY, YZ, ZX
2. Local Axis system
3. 3D Compass
4. Partbody tree
.... SOORY been a bit busy
yup so first you will encounter these three important tools/manupulator/selectors you can call them what ever you like
So if you wanted to create a 3D model it starts with a basic 2D drawing that is usually confined to a single plane XY, YZ, ZX
Most of us try to work out a easier, quicker way to model a 3D object.... an efficient CATIA V5 Designer also does the same but thinking in a more systematic way and more flexible way to make more changes with less operation ..... trying to VISUALISE things before its taking shape is as important as to know the FUNCTIONALITY of a particular tool bar.
if you are running a CATIA V5 in a 32 Bit windows environment you can expect it to be a little buggy

And Finally to my fellow visitors from here (Mel & Syd) there is currently a high demand i would say Boeing took 38 Grads (I wasnt successful in that !! bad luck) but looks like there are going to take some more grads.. there is this AWD (Australia Warfare Destroyer project) that is going to shape up in may be end of this year with a massive recruitments in ship building (Adeliade). When u select a line or an edge and if u want to trace the line using a point propagation then u use AUTOSEARCH you can either right click the line/edge/entity or u can choose it from the drop down list of EDIT

NO, but we can hide/show a part body in a assembly
3.When u do draft (solid draft), what is a neutral plane ? is it the plane that from which the draft is created ? or is it the reference plane?
Neutral Plane is the reference plane (When u preview a draft command u will be able to see) from which the draft starts

Aaaahh ! First Part Design .... was exhalarating (creative spelling !!) .... dint take much of time coz i was trying to model it earlier without knowing the full meaning of pocketing .... now its ... like a breezee.....

Ther haz been a tremendouss jobz these dayz for CATIA Stars ! In Melbourne alone many design projects are comming up ..... Boeing 787 HdH, Bombardiers Transportation, ASC for AWD Project and of course Toyota .... Ford is in the process of change over to CATIA and Holden (GM) is expected to follow the line sooon..... In this situation there is lots of demand for a good designer of course not everything is learnt out of your training sessions so share ur experience .....
